The Netherlands and the city of Apeldoorn in particular look forward to welcoming you to the European Championships Track Cycling 2013. With more than 16 million inhabitants and possibly the same amount of bicycles, the Netherlands is a cyclist’s paradise. Our rich cycling tradition, like the World Championships Track Cycling and the European Championships Track Cycling in 2011, also makes the Netherlands the ideal location for this global cycling event. We are proud to act as host for this event in the multifunctional sport centre Omnisport Apeldoorn.

An event such as the European Championships Track Cycling has considerable allure both at home and abroad. The attention and excitement generated by breathtaking races are of course beneficial to the sport of cycling in general and for track racing in particular. The Municipality of Apeldoorn, the Royal Dutch Cycling Union (KNWU) and the organiser Libéma Profcycling and de Adelaar put their heads together and are giving their full support to this unique cycling event. By organising and hosting the European Championships Track Cycling, the Netherlands truly establishes itself as the global hub of the sport of cycling. And with a view to the Dutch 2028 Olympic Plan, the event also underscores our international ambitions.
